This resource was made for my Y10 class after their first A Christmas Carol assessment, based on the ‘tight-fisted hand at the grindstone’ Eduqas extract question on Scrooge.

The worksheet outlines the essay and follows the Eduqas 1, 2, 3, DIVE model of responding to extract questions. There is a clear section for the extract where the students can select a few quotes and highlight what they mean/what they see, then there is a section for the wider novella and one for context.

My pupils found this really useful in reflecting on their assessment results and noting the gaps in their essays. It can be printed on either A4 or A3, if you feel your students need more space to write their quotations/explanations out. I did print these on A3 and found it gave the students more opportunity to explore their ideas and engage with the quotations and context more.

As always, this resource can be altered to suit your style and the needs of your pupils!
