Essay Title
Introduction: This section employs a ‘Define, Discuss, Decide’ approach. It involves defining key terms, outlining the essay’s scope by mentioning two main areas of comparison, and stating the essay’s main argument.
Main Body Paragraphs (Thematic Comparison): Typically, there are two such paragraphs. Each introduces a thematic point or area of comparison, discusses different nationalist views (often contrasting thinkers like Rousseau, Mazzini, Herder, Maurras, and Garvey), and provides a mini-evaluation of the extent of agreement or disagreement on that theme.
Conclusion (Overall Evaluation): This section summarises the key agreements and disagreements, reaffirms the overall judgement made in the introduction, and synthesises the evaluation, justifying the main answer by considering the relative importance of agreements and disagreements.
The document offers detailed “How to do it” instructions and specific “Essay Content” examples for each part of the essay structure, aiming to guide students in constructing their arguments and using relevant nationalist thinkers and concepts.
