Table of Contents and Answer Key
Activity: Fossil Comparison Lab & Media Analysis

  1. Fossil Comparison Lab
Students will examine images or replicas of theropod dinosaur fossils and modern bird skeletons. Through guided observation and comparison, they will:
Identify skeletal similarities (e.g., hollow bones, three-fingered hands, wishbone).
Record observations and draw conclusions about evolutionary relationships.
  2. Media Clip Analysis – Jurassic Park
Students will watch a selected clip from Jurassic Park that discusses the dinosaur-bird connection (suggested clip: Dr. Alan Grant’s introduction in the dig site scene).
This visual and dramatic introduction helps students grasp the idea that birds evolved from dinosaurs.
    After the clip, students will:
Discuss the scientific accuracy of the statements made in the film.
Reflect on how media influences public understanding of science.
