This resource provides a dynamic and interactive approach to a potentially challenging topic, fostering deeper understanding and critical thinking skills. It’s perfect for classroom use, independent study, or homework assignments. The nature of the card sort makes it suitable for a range of different abilities as students delve into the reasons behind Labour’s landslide victory in the 1945 General Election. Students analyse the contrasting aims, leadership styles, campaign tactics, and policies (particularly regarding social welfare and healthcare) of both the Labour and Conservative parties.

When you purchase this resource you will be able to download a single page Microsoft Word document and PowerPoint presentation with 22 slides designed to help facilitate and consonsolidate the card sort.

The Word document includes a learning objective, instructions, two headings cards labeled ‘Why Labour Won’ and ‘Why the Conservatives Lost’ as well as sixteen information cards to be sorted under them. At the end of the document there is an extension question designed to help consolidate the lesson.
