If you’ve ever wished you had a real, no-BS way to help your students make decisions about their sexual health—like if they’re ready for sex or other important choices—this Google Slides Lesson is it.

I wish I had something like this as a teen—something that actually helped me think through these big choices instead of just throwing stats at me. That’s why I created this interactive, discussion-based lesson using the BRAVO Framework (okay, I totally made this framework up, but it works and it’s better than the other models I’ve used in the past. I swear!) It’s a simple but powerful tool to help students assess their boundaries, risks, values, and communication before making sexual choices.

Here’s the Lesson Overview:

The lesson starts with a warm-up conversation about all the big decisions people make around their sexual health like relationships, contraception, protection, and even period products.
Then they watch THIS LifeFluent video made for this very lesson. (Hi! That’s me, Katie, in the video!)
Next, students get introduced to BRAVO, a framework that helps them ask the right questions before making choices about sex—like: “Am I doing this because I want to, or because I feel pressured?” “Have I actually talked to my partner about this?”
Then, they put BRAVO into action by working through 10 EDITABLE realistic case studies—analyzing different scenarios where teens are considering sex. In small groups, they discuss:
Does this person seem ready to become sexually active based on what they expressed?
What questions could they ask before making this choice?
Finally, the lesson wraps up with a class discussion and reflection questions, where students realize that sex isn’t something everyone is doing, and that it’s always a personal choice.
The PERKS!
