A unit designed for ACARA version 9. Lessons designed for 70 minute periods with a mixed range of abilities.
The PPT begins with some warm up questions (general getting to know you ones). Then we move onto the focus of the lesson – forming judgements about particular influencers. Students need to build up the ability to form a judgement and back it up with evidence (substantiation). My chosen example for the lesson is Abbie Chatfield. I begin with some information to introduce her – nationality, year of birth, claim to fame, later media appearances. I introduce the concept of VABs (values, attitudes and beliefs). We watch a 6 minute clip of her speaking and try to pull out some of her VABS. We then read an article about when she was on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2021 to learn more about her VABs. Then we look at some of her social media posts from 2024-2025 including ones about her boyfriend and ones about political issues.
