This 7th to 12th grade, 2 hour interactive (30) Google Slides activity helps students practice using commonly (28 questions) confused words: “through,” “taught,” “though,” “tough,” “thought,” “thorough,” and** “throughout.”** Students will read sentences with a missing word and select the correct word to complete the sentence. Each slide includes a picture clue to help them understand the meaning in context.
Students will work in the class, individually or in pairs to:
Read the sentence carefully and analyze the meaning.
Look at the picture clue to help determine the correct word.
Choose the correct word from the provided list and fill in the blank.
At the end of the activity, students will review the answer key to check their work and discuss any mistakes. This can be used as an in-class evaluation or as a preparation activity for note-taking and writing skills. Solutions at the end.
