A resource to support a lesson on persuasive writing techniques. Pupils are asked to write a persuasive argument which either supports zoos or is against zoos. I have included a series of bullet - pointed techniques which can be used as criteria for success and to help the pupils with their writing. Also included are a series of free images / posters about zoos.

This is an A4 cloze procedure activity based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. All the missing spaces must be filled with adjectives of the pupil’s choice. It could be used with Year 3 or 4. It could be a homework task to reinforce the use of good adjectives in writing or as a reading / word level task in class. The extension task asks the pupils to carry on the story using their own amazing adjectives!

A short practice sheet where pupils are tasked with finding 25 %, 50 % and 75 % of a range of numbers. (Two pupil sheets to an A4 sheet so needs to be trimmed in half.) A simple 6 - question maths sheet for use with year 5. Two activity sheets are pasted on to a single A4 sheet, so it needs to be trimmed. Could be used as an assessment activity, a whole class lesson or an independent task.

The worksheet asks pupils to listen and appraise different genres of music, writing their thoughts using a table provided. The teacher would need to prepare a range of short and varied pieces of music, according to their curriculum requirements.

This is a homework task for primary aged pupils who are learning about schools of the past. The task is to interview an older person and find out about their childhood and schooldays - to compare them with modern schools and children nowadays. Pupils could interview a grandparent, parent or other relative, or even a good family friend – the older, the better! Pupils are given a few questions to start the interview - then it is up to them to think of their own.

This has 2 self assessments on a piece of A4 so can be cut in half and stuck in the pupils'books, following a piece of writing that you want them to assess themselves.

Pupils have to read a paragraph from chapter one and change the verb tense from present to past tense. The challenge is to carry on the story using past tense. Class discussion on the effect of changing the tense is recommended before attempting the activity!

A4 worksheet with 2 actiivities. Firstly, pupils have to complete the missing letters of 10 named gases. Secondly, pupils research into 2 gases and write notes on their properties. Could be used as research homework.

There are 4 plays for use with Upper Key Stage Two: Palm Sunday - 4 speaking parts Palm Sunday - 7 speaking parts Good Friday - 13 speaking parts Peter’s Denial - 8 speaking parts The plays can be used in guided reading sessions, as part of drama and R.E. lessons or even as class assemblies. The two Palm Sunday plays are similar, with one being longer and having more speaking parts. They both use the modern day concept of ‘Live News’ reporting for dramatic effect. Peter’s Denial and Good Friday could be acted out in small groups or read as a class.

Pupils love the latest text message abbreviations so will enjoy working in pairs to find all the abbreviations contained in this worksheet. This resource will help children to write their own rhyming, nonsense poems modelled on the Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear. There sre 2 basic resources to use: An exemplar of a poem written in the style of The Owl and the Pussycat, called The Dog and the Budgie. It could be displayed on the whiteboard alongside the original or printed out for discussion. A cloze procedure activity to help lower attaining pupils to succeed in the activity. I have also included a Twinkl PP of the original poem, to use or delete as necessary.

Useful for topic - based literacy lessons. Could also be used to stimulate non fiction writing. First comprehension has detailed non fiction text followed by 10 questions. Second comprehension consists of 20 cloze procedure missing words. Third and fourth comprehensions look at the human ear and are both on the same A4 worksheet - cut in half to differentiate.
