How can small choices shape a greener world?

Join the worldwide call to action of World Environment Day, a global event that encourages people everywhere to take better care of our planet. Through three engaging reading texts, students explore one of today’s biggest challenges, plastic pollution, and discover what governments, communities, and individuals can do about it.
Introduce this timely topic with a clear progression of texts: Starter, Standard, and Stretch. Early levels focus on simple retrieval and sequencing. Higher levels develop vocabulary, inference, and author’s intent, encouraging thoughtful reflection and analysis.
Across all levels, students will learn that World Environment Day is a global event held on the 5th of June to protect the environment, plastic pollution harms wildlife and human health, it creates lasting damage to oceans and land, countries are making laws to reduce plastic use, and individuals (including students) can help by refusing, reusing, and rethinking plastic in everyday life.

What’s included:

  • 3 differentiated texts
  • 8–10 comprehension questions per level with mixed reading skills
  • Full answer key with skill tags
  • Black-and-white, easy-to-print format
  • Traffic light self-assessment for student reflection
