How Do We Know About God? | Year 7 Catholic RE Lesson – KS3

This fully resourced Year 7 lesson explores how humans come to know God through revelation, scripture, and creation. Aligned with the KS3 Religious Education Directory (RED) and Source & Summit, the lesson helps pupils understand different ways God is revealed, including through miracles, visions, and the natural world. Written for pupils with a reading age of around 10, the lesson includes clear definitions of key terms, addresses common misconceptions (e.g., revelation is not just a human idea), and features accessible examples and guided questioning. Engaging discussion prompts, image-led activities, and a PEEL writing task allow pupils to reflect on the evidence for God and how belief is shaped by experience. Ideal for Catholic RE teachers looking for a structured, thoughtful, and creative lesson that deepens understanding of divine revelation.
