Sensory circuits and breaks are designed to provide structured movements to help re-engage students. They can be incredibly useful for children who require those sensory breaks and movement breaks. Especially for those children who may have additional needs such as sensory processing disorder, ADHD or ASD.
In this pack you will find a template to help you plan your sensory circuit, it will have visuals provided to help you to make this obvious to yourself and the child using the sensory circuit. This also helps reduce the cognitive load of the child.
I would recommend setting yourself up a folder the cards in the help make the sensory circuit as workload free to set up as possible. Teachers and teaching assistants have a lot to do in a day and having this set up can really support yourself and other members of staff to complete tasks with a reduced workload.
For each activity the children could do, I will put a short set of instructions and any resources that you may need. They only thing that you will need to source yourself are the physical objects such as lego cubes, bead threading, etc. All other resources should be able to be printed and laminated.
