Use it with your class calendar by placing yellow counters for the days already in school and red ones for the remaining days of the week. Children practise subitising and number bonds, understand the 5-day school week, and develop a sense of time. “If today is Tuesday, we’ve had 2 yellow counters and there are 3 red ones left, we know this because 2 and 3 makes 5.” A brilliant way to embed maths into the children’s everyday routine!

You can also, laminate it and each month write the date on each box. Stick a picture of a child’s birthday or an important event like Christmas, children can independently count how many days are left for it.
