A fun group task based on the children’s book The Journey by Aaron Becker.
This story has no words and shows a little girl who is bored in her room. She finds a magic crayon and draws a door on her wall which she opens to find a magical world. With her magic crayon she draws different things that become real during her adventure and help her to get out of sticky situations.
The children had great fun working in groups of 3 to come up with an idea they agreed on to draw if they had a magic crayon. For example, a new puppy.
Each child contributed to the drawing with a different colour so that, when finished, you could see the shared work.
This task helped children to develop their communication skills by working as part of a group:
- taking turns
- listening
- respecting differing ideas
- managing time
- sharing ideas
