Lesson 5: Did LGBTQ+ Pop Culture Advance Equality? – LGBTQ+ History KS3 (Full Scheme Available)

This is the fifth lesson in a 6-lesson LGBTQ+ History scheme aimed at high-ability KS3 students (Year 9) or as a pre-GCSE bridge. The lesson explores how popular culture — particularly music and film from the 1970s to 1990s — reflected and shaped changing attitudes toward LGBTQ+ people in Britain. Students use comparative skills and source-based research to build a nuanced understanding of cultural progress and its limitations.
