Introduce your Year 6 class to Pie Charts using this straightforward Powerpoint presentation and accompanying differentiated activity. First encourage children to compare data in a bar chart and a pie chart a discuss the pros and cons of each. Then work through the six different activities which increase in challenge. Finally, there are a selection of other pie charts to discuss, including the first ever pie chart, a pie chart created by Florence Nightingale and a couple of funny examples to end the lesson.
This is a great resource to introduce pie charts before having children construct their own using protractor (though the challenge activity does stretch children and they may ask for a protractor to help them!).
