Using weil
This worksheet can be used in class or for homework.
There are twenty pairs to match up and combine.
Answers are provided and there is also a short extension task.
In the grid below, there are two columns containing short sentences.
Match up a sentence from the first column with a sentence from the second.
You can do this by copying and pasting / writing them out / drawing a line between them / labelling them with numbers etc. Your teacher will let you know how they would like it done.
Once you have matched up the pairs, combine each pair of sentences by linking them with the German word for because (weil).
Remember that weil sends the first verb to the end of the new sentence.
Don’t forget to include a comma … and to make sure it is placed correctly.
Here is an example to get you started :
Ich esse kein Fleisch. Ich bin Vegetarier(in).
Ich esse kein Fleisch, weil ich Vegetarier(in) bin.
