This activity explores the point of view of President Franklin D. Roosevelt as he reflects on leading the nation through the Great Depression. Students will examine his perspective on the economic crisis, the fear and suffering faced by millions of Americans, and the bold actions he took through the New Deal. Through his reflections, they will analyze how FDR’s leadership, programs like the CCC and WPA, and his direct communication with the public helped restore hope, create jobs, and move the country toward recovery with courage and unity.
