A reading comprehension task which looks at the true story of John Macintyre, who was buried alive accidentally and dug up by Resurrectionists to be sold for medical purposes and analytical studies. This lesson gives students a simplified and broken-down way of accessing a non fiction text.

The first part poses comprehension and language activities. The activities ensure the text is carefully read.

The second part of the lesson consists of writing tasks which link to the theme of the text

This lesson is useful as a stand alone non fiction text, or as an introduction to Frankenstein and the Gothic Genre.
