Consumerism, money PSHE / Citizenship lesson ideal for a unit on financial decision making or as a stand alone resource. The lesson considers the difference between wants and needs, how advertisers use marketing techniques to make all products appear as needs and to generate consumerism. The lesson gives a clear definition of consumerism and considers some of the issues relating to it including fair trade and the impact on the environment. The lesson finishes by getting pupils to consider how they can be more mindful in relation to consumerism.
