This lesson explores how Linda Brown’s court case and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Christian beliefs helped fight segregation and racism in the USA. Pupils learn about the Brown v. Board of Education ruling that ended legal segregation in schools and the struggles faced by the Little Rock Nine. They also examine King’s commitment to nonviolent protest inspired by faith. Activities include guided reading, comprehension tasks, analysing witness accounts, creative mapping of events, and extended writing on whether Brown v. Board was a total victory.
