ILO 3: Explore the concept of a ‘balanced diet” and the seven classes of nutrients (food groups) and their ‘exercise-related function’

Differentiated Learning outcomes:
AO1 KNOWLEDGE: Define the term balanced diet, Identify the seven classes of food and describe the main role of each.

AO2 APPLCATION: Explain the recommended percentages of daily calories for the macro-nutrients and explain the relationship between macro and micronutrients using relevant examples.

AO3 ANALYSIS / EVALUATION: Justify the advantages and disadvantages of excessive accumulation versus inadequate accumulation of each nutrient on sports performance.
