This Literacy based resource is designed for children aged 5 to 7 and combines storytelling, creativity, and skill-building activities.
It begins with a short, engaging fairy tale about a castle, a princess, a queen, a knight, and a dragon, complete with illustrations to spark imagination. Children are encouraged to discuss characters, settings, events, and key objects, with a black-and-white version provided for colouring.
The set includes:
- 8 Story Flashcards: Brightly coloured cards featuring key elements of the story, alongside black-and-white versions for children to colour in. (Cut and laminate for durability and reuse).
- Dragon Silhouette Activity: A poster of dragon silhouettes with matching flashcards for children to cut out and match to the poster.
- Castle Colouring Sheet: A detailed colour illustration of a castle and a matching version for children to colour.
- Trace-and-Colour Sheet: A fine motor skill activity where children trace and colour a castle and knight.
Extend by asking the children to write their own short story using the flashcards/ or write guided stories in groups. Children can also use the story for drama and role play.
