A unit designed for ACARA version 9. Lessons designed for 70 minute periods with a mixed range of abilities.

In this lesson students are introduced to the term substantiation (which is part of the criteria they must demonstrate in this assessment). They are taught some related terms and sentences which can be used to incorporate substantiation. There is information about what substantiation might look like in this unit. They are then introduced to a new influencer – Jameela Jamil. We watch a short clip (Good Place trailer) so they can link her to something they may be familiar with. We then watch a short clip on YouTube where she speaks about fitness and body positivity. We then look at a range of her posts from Instagram to try to pull out her VABs (values, attitudes and beliefs). To conclude the lesson, students have to write a paragraph explaining whether they believe she is helpful or harmful.
