Planned for the 9-1 New Specification This lesson looks at the embourgeoisement thesis. Looking at Goldthorpe’s (1969) The Affluent Worker study and Fiona Devine (1992) case study.

Planned for New 9-1 Specification Lesson looking at absolute and relative poverty. Lots of UK statistics for class discussion around what they believe constitutes poverty, causes and consequences of poverty. Students then look at Peter Townsends (1979) study into relative poverty, critique it and answer 2x 3mark questions.

Planned for 9-1 New Specification The lesson is intended to be a research and group presentation lesson but I have included the PDF that they would search for, and they could just present using paper and speeches rather than using ICT. Depends on your group and resources that are available. Great lesson to get them to develop presentation skills, but also develops numeracy skills.

Planned for 9-1 AQA specification A lesson that looks at Max Weber’s theory on social class, covering power, class and status. Discussion based activities, with a case study at the end.

Planned for the new 9-1 Specification AQA Paper 2. A lesson that looks at the Marxist approach to class. Students have a worksheet and have to go on a scavenger hunt for information on the key terms needed to explain the Marxist approach. Evaluation of the theory followed by an exam question.

Planned for the new 9-1 Specification AQA Paper 2. A lesson that covers the key thinkers Davis and Moore (1945). Students critique the theory and answer a 4 mark question. Model answer is supplied for self/peer assessment.

Planned for the new 9-1 Specification AQA Paper 2. Introduction lesson to Social Stratification, looking at ascribed/achieved status, open and closed stratification using Slavery, Caste, Estate and Class as examples.

A new scheme of work aimed at KS3 Y7. This unit of work will be a Chronology of Monotheism. Starting with Genesis, moving through Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each religion will cover Key religious figures, information on their holy book and a rite of passage/religious practice. The aim of this unit is to compliment our GCSE curriculum in which we study Christianity and Islam. The learning journey for the unit is included. Muhammad and the role of women- A lesson that looks at Muhammad’s wives- Khaijah and Aisha, and how Muhammad changed the role of women in Islam. Worksheet and resource sheet to support a 6 mark exam question.

A PSHE unit of work that looks at the case study of Malala. This unit is used around Holocaust memorial, preparing students for a school trip to the Holocaust Memorial centre. Lessons look at forgiveness, bystander behaviour and if we can forgive those who contributed to the holocaust. Included is a RAG book tracker and homework activities. Suitable for Year 8 or Year 9.

New AQA Specification 9-1. Lesson looking at how educational policy changes have impacted educational achievement. Students complete a timeline- first activity is to put the information above the timeline. Second activity is to consider if it reduced or increased inequalities looking at gender, ethnicity and social class.

New AQA 9-1 specification. A consolidation lesson looking at educational achievement. Internal/external factors, gender, ethnicity and social class. Students use their own book notes to complete an A3 worksheet, but a help sheet is provided if students have missed lessons and require some support. A selection of 12 mark questions are used if students complete. Ideal as a cover lesson, homework task, consolidation lesson before assessment or revision for Y11 before their exam.
