As part of this it is important that they understand the threats to the environment and how they can contribute now and as adults to exacting changes. The presentation looks at the vital role of pollinators such as bees and the threats they are undergoing as well as ways to make a change. There are points to discuss and the Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a quiz on Forms as a preliminary to the lesson. This assembly highlights this year’s theme of Anxiety, how it can affect anyone and everyone, but also looking at supporting and understanding those whose circumstances mean they are more vulnerable to feelings of anxiety. It looks at how you can cope with anxiety and where to seek help if you have ongoing problems with anxiety. It will also be part of a bundle with other resources looking at situations where stress and anxiety are more prevalent, such as when facing disappointment, or in the face of exams, and areas of our lives we can work on to help improve our mental health, such as sleep, friendship and acts of kindness.

This session is ideal for a post-16 assembly but could also be used as a lesson (PSHE/ PD/ tutor time/ history, as a Holocaust intro). It explores the Holocaust via the implications of prejudice and discrimination and from the perspective of ‘ordinary people’ (this year’s theme for Holocaust Memorial Day). It could be delivered around HMD but also could be used as Holocaust education at another time of year. This resource was designed for sixth form students but is also suitable for younger years. The pack includes an adaptable power-point including optional discussion points and detailed notes for the presenter.
