The Structure of the Earth.

This lesson is designed to help KS4 (year 10 - 11) students understand the struture of the Earth and tectonic plates theory.

The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete.

Through a series of activities students explore the different layers of the Earth, convection currents in the mantle and tectonic plates.

By the end of this lesson students will be able to:
● Name and describe the different layers of the Earth’s structure
● Name the major plates
● Explain how convection currents in the mantle cause tectonic activity
