Worksheet 1: covers the identification of the following structures of a synovial joint and how they help to prevent injury:
• synovial membrane
• synovial fluid
• joint capsule
• bursae
• cartilage
• ligaments.
Worksheet 2: requires students to identify a shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle joint from a picture and identify which type of freely movable joint they are (hinge or ball and socket).
Worksheet 3: requires students to complete a table to identify at which joints flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, rotation, circumduction, plantar flexion and dorsiflexion occur. They also have to describe each movement type and give a sporting example.
