Morning starter discussion and writing thought-provoking slides
Key Stage 1 (KS1) / Key Stage 2 (KS2) / Key Stage 3 (KS3)

Develop discussion, reasoning, debating and public speaking skills!

These slides are a long-lasting resource which are great to have in your back-pocket! There are 10 thought-provoking questions which inspire deep discussion and provide an opportunity to practice reasoning skills. They include different “would you rather?”, “what if…?” and “Think of 5 things…” style questions, which children can either write down their answers on whiteboards or in books, or just discuss them as a class verbally. Alternatively, these could be printed and shared out between tables, so that children could debate their answers in groups for a set time before moving to the new question. An ideal low-prep, time-filler activity which can be used at any time of day!

These are downloadable as Microsoft PowerPoint Slides or a PDF, for printing or presenting on an interactive whiteboard.
Supply teacher? Keep these in your back pocket for filling time with any age group!
