
PRIDE MONTH 2025 - LGBTQIA+ HISTORY AND ALLYSHIP
This lesson has been designed to convey the message of “The Fabric of Freedom” which is in line with the World PRIDE 2025 theme The lesson focuses on:
- Exploring the community behind the acronym LGBTQIA+
- Understanding why PRIDE is celebrated each June
- What were the Stonewall Riots and how did they influence the PRIDE movement.
- Other moments in LGBTQIA+ history that highlight persecution and triumphs within the community prior to the Stonewall Riots.
- What it means to be an ally and how you can be an ally everyday.
- How to seek support for LGBTQIA+ related matters.
The lesson package comes with a visually engaging PowerPoint, comprehensive teaching notes and easy to follow student worksheet, that you can either distribute digitally or quickly print.
The lesson has been designed to fit within a 60 minute lesson slot but could easily be adapted to fit any lesson size, including being completed over a series of tutor times.
