Key quotations to memorise for characters from the play “The Merchant of Venice” by William Shakespeare as part of Edexcel GCSE English Literature.

The characters: Antonio, Bassanio, Shylock, Portia, Gratiano, Jessica, Lancelot and minor characters.

I’ve organised the quotations for each character by theme, so it is easy to select evidence to use as part of essays. The act, scene and page (if you’re using the Oxford School Shakespeare version) of each quote has also been included, in case you need to refer back to that specific part.
