This resource is a student work booklet on Weapons of the First World War. Students examine the key weapons developed during WW1, why they were so effective, and how their impact shaped the nature of warfare in the long term. The lesson introduces and explains different weapons through structured activities that build knowledge and evaluation skills and includes exam practice questions. Whilst this booklet was made for Cambridge IGCSE History (Depth Study A: The First World War, 1914–18), it is also suitable for other exam boards that cover WW1. The activities link directly to the Cambridge IGCSE & O Level History: 20th Century Coursebook by Paul Grey, which students will need to use alongside the booklet.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain how the developments of weapons impacted warfare in the long term.
- Understand why the weapons were so effective.
- Describe different weapons developed in WW1.
