Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. Each set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on a range of French Christmas words. The vocabulary helps to develop students’ awareness of French-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures, such as galette des Rois and Père Fouettard, which is translated here as Father Fouettard, rather than Whipping Father. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about French Christmas practices and customs. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. Both sets include a full vocabulary list of all the French Christmas words featured in the word searches.
