The final part of the “Explain It” series, a series of practical interventions designed to help any person explain to themselves and others why they have behaved the way they have.

This document has been in my mind developing itself for a very long time. Whilst training to become an Elsa, I was given several versions of worksheets that were visuals for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). All these worksheets had the same layout. A cloud to represent thoughts, then a box for the feeling and then a box for the behaviour, some worksheets came with a picture of the body.
The worksheets worked, but only through training students to complete it backwards, read it forwards and by building a certain skillset through interventions. I found that it helped students to explain to themselves why they have behaved the way that they have, to truly reflect. Students were learning about themselves, therefore improving their emotional literacy. I wanted to create my own worksheet that made this process as visual and as straight forward as possible. The Explain It series is all about starting to build the skills to complete this worksheet. It is an introduction to Emotional Literacy that can, and will, be built on in many ways. Future series will be around developing these skills further.
How it works:
Complete the boxes in the order of the numbers and read it back through the arrows.
