
This lesson continues on from the EDUQAS GCSE COMP 2, MUSIC VIDS (SEC B) 2024 ONWARDS: MUSIC VIDEO CODES & CONVENTIONS WORKSHOP and is a DOUBLE lesson (LESSON 1-2) ON Stormzy’s ‘Superheroes’ music video. This lesson focuses on:
-The codes and conventions of Rap/ Hip-Hop and Grime.
-Includes a context slide on Stormzy
-Viewing of the music video and deconstruction against the three types of music video.
-The historical influence of Hip-Hop conventions and appliaction against to key frames from the music video with LV9 support slide for scaffolding.
-How do the following frames subvert/ adhere the rap genre/ Grime sub-genre?
-BRAINSTORMZY: What indirect intertextual links are present within the music video with regards to the Superhero sub-genre?
-Quickfire visual Q and A on select frames from the music video with support that reveals after feedback.
-Deeper encoded intertextual links within ‘Superheroes’.
NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at GCSEl, as a three-year Course.
