This is an 8 lesson focused practical task that requires students to manufacture a wooden mobile phone holder that acts like a passive amplifier to increase the sound of music that is playing. Students use Pine for the construction and 3.2mm welding rod for the handle and grill to make it look like a retro radio. The use of templates, jigs and manufacturing aids are required to improve quality of outcomes and teach students about mass production.
Each lesson includes two retrieval tasks, clear sharable lesson objectives, DNA (do now activities) and a Teacher narration slide as standard. There are embedded GIF’s (7 second animations) that demonstrate each task that is required from simple marking out to cutting joints to assembling the final CAD drawing. This supports all learners to make progress no matter what stage they are at and frees the teacher up to better support.
There is a student booklet to accompany the teaching PowerPoint. This provides space for students to complete their retrieval tasks, and assess their work.
The file sizes for each lesson are big due to the inclusion of embedded videos and GIF’s. As a result, they cannot be uploaded to TES directly. I have included a PDF version of the PowerPoint for instant download, a sample of the PowerPoint and a link to the OneDrive file where you can download the full resource and files required to deliver the project.
