This resource is designed for Year 9 based on the Pearson Edexcel KS3 Scheme of Work. These lessons are designed to specifically prepare students to start studying Edexcel History (9-1). This is the 8th lesson looking at the Chapter on ‘Why did the First World War start in 1914?’. This lesson focuses on the significance of the Balkans in increasing tension in Europe and to understand how Europe had become a dangerous place by 1914. Some of the activities that the lesson includes is a starter wordsearch and a source analysis activity which helps students to think about what questions they should be asking when answering inference exam questions (Edexcel 9-11).
