August Heat synopsis:
Artist James Clarence Withencroft is inspired by the August heat to draw a picture of a man standing trial. While out on a stroll, he visits a stonemason’s workshop. Working within the masonry is a man named Charles who looks exactly like the man in his drawing. Charles shows James a tombstone he has been working on. James is shocked to see that the tombstone has his name and date of birth on it. Neither man can say what inspired their art. Charles invites James to stay for dinner. This unsettling coincidence leads to a sense of impending doom and mystery about both mens futures. Which man predicted the future correctly? Find out in the August Heat Readers’ Theatre unit!
I hope you, and your students enjoy reading August Heat and continue to do so for many years.
