This activity was designed to be a simple, no-prep activity to to compliment flag day, 4th of July, or any other patriotic theme. Students love making thumbprint art! It also comes with a sample of my Thumbprint Flag articulation pack (rblends & pre-vocalic r) for speech therapy (the full pack comes with over 60 page).

Materials Needed: Ink pad or paint (red & blue recommended), thumbprint flag/firework pages. You can also use bingo dotters to paint the students’ thumbs (works just as good). I also keep wet wipes near by! I recommend washable ink!

Optional Assembly: You can also place in a sheet protector or laminate to use with play dough.

Please note: The flag is not an accurate USA flag (the page was too small to include all of the stripes and stars).

To use:

Flag: The student will place their thumb on a red ink pad and then over lighter colored ovals. Leave the darker outlined ovals white (these are the white stripes on the flag). They can also color the background of the stars blue.

Firework: The student will place thumb on an ink pad and then over an ovals. The students will color the stars.
