A unit designed for ACARA version 9. Lessons designed for 70 minute periods with a mixed range of abilities.
The lesson began with a diagnostic writing activity as shown by the opening slide. Students had to write a letter to me introducing themself (addressing the dot points on the slide).
Students copy the underlined text on slides. They respond to the questions e.g. ‘what social media applications are you familiar with?’
There are some prompts for class discussion around the impacts on teenagers. (positive and negative). There is a viewing activity about influencers that students have to decide whether they agree or disagree with. There is another viewing activity about how teens use social media with 5 questions which students must respond to. Then students make a list of some of the positives and negatives of influencers. There are a couple more viewing activities for if time permits.
