What is this Resource?
Edexcel A-Level Business (9BS0).
Theme 1: 1.1.1 The Market.

Lesson 3: An in depth look at market segmentation, why businesses use it and the methods to achieve it. This lesson utilises real world examples for products to get students to think about the messages hidden within the advertising we see on a daily basis. It also introduces market orientation and product orientation.

Who is it aimed at?
GCSE and A-Level Students (predominantly year 12).

What does it include?
A 59 slide PowerPoint that introduces students to market segmentation and its influence over consumers and impact on business.
Please note: the PPT is fully functional but sold as read only.

How do I use it? Possibilities…
• Do now/ starter: mini white boards work effectively.
• Use the PPT to stimulate discussion as a class or use the included slides to use paired discussion. Get them to explore what they know because they live in the capitalist business world.
• Allow students to use the PPT to answer questions at the end, as an independent exercise.
